Functional Fitness

My Story

Growing up I competed in multiple sports. Injury after injury, I was never taught the correct way to stretch and strengthen my muscles to avoid injury. Through a reconstructive shoulder surgery, countless hours of self guided physical therapy, I am now able to move properly. One key aspect of my healing as been my journey dealing with idiothrombocytopenia ( its a platelet condition that doctors don’t know what’s causing it) yet it impacts my ability to recover properly.

If you feel limited in your workouts due to physical limitations, I can show you other ways to strengthen the same muscles that isn’t the typical instagram workout. They key is small, slow, intentional movements that keep your spine mobile and pain-free.

Functional movements don’t have to be complex. In fact, they are typically so basic that people tend not to do them and underestimate their affect on our bodies. We need to go back to the basics and start there. I train in order to preserve my muscle mass and avoid osteoporosis. I train to keep my muscles healthy and active so that I am able to avoid spraining my back by bending down wrong. I train because I only have one body and want to be able to live a strong, pain-free life.
